The Lights at Art Johnson's
Norwood, MA
Original: $350

Art Johnsons was famous amongst the hot rodders to line up at the lights and drag race down route 1.  The old 55 chevys even with a beefed up 327/ 3 speed on the floor couldn't keep up with the mid 60's muscle cars.
Does anyone have a photo of racing at the lights? If so, please let me know. Thanks

The Boston Tea Party  * 16"x20" Beveled Mat/ $25   Original: $600

The Boston Tea Party was a concert venue located on 53 Berkeley Street and operated from 1967 to 1971. Originally the site of a synagogue, and then a street mission, the location was later into a concert venue. The Boston Tea Party became associated with the psychedelic movement being similar in this way to New York ’s Fillmore East and San Francisco 's Fillmore West.  Originally playing host to exclusively local acts, the venue quickly began to attract performances by many famous artists, including Grateful Dead, Neil Young, The J. Geils Band, Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, Cream, Fleetwood Mac, The Allman Brothers Band, Joe Cocker & the Grease Band, Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, The Buddy Miles Express, , Jeff Beck, The Who, Santana,  Ten Years After & Sly and the Family Stone.  The Grateful Dead played six shows there: 10/2/69, 10/3/69, 10/4/69, 12/29/69, 12/30/69, and 12/31/69.  The Boston Tea Party closed in early 1971, due partly to the increasing popularity of large outdoor festivals and arena rock concerts.

Dana Center
“Quabbin Reservoir
Before April 28, 1938”
By Medfield Native and former resident of Oakham Artist William B. Mac Gregor Jr
Giclee Print in a 16" x 20" Mat     $49.99   Original: Sold

I used to live in Oakham Mass and became fascinated with the history of Quabbin Reservoir.  One of the interesting facts is four towns were submerged to create Quabbin.  They are Enfield, Prescott , Greenwich and Dana.  Also 25% of Oakham was taken for Quabbin and also in Rutland . One of my favorite hikes is take a bucolic walk to Dana Center .  The buildings are long gone but the foundations are still there.  Dana center was not submerged but is very close to the shore of Quabbin Reservoir . I wanted to do a watercolor in memory of the four now lost towns and this painting is of a Sunday morning sometime in the early 1900's. Bring your binoculars because you might see a bald eagle!
